OUR VOLUNTEERS ROC!

ROC Race is nothing without our awesome volunteers! We have shifts available before the event at Packet Pickup and on race day. Your duties could include day of check-in, T-shirt distribution, merchandise tent, bag check, water stations, working obstacles, and motivating runners through the course.


WHAT YOU GET

For all your hard work, all volunteers will receive:
  • Opportunity to run at a discounted rate. For more information, click on the Volunteer Discount tab.
  • 20% off Merchandise on the day of your shift.
  • Event access and parking.
  • Exclusive ROC Race Volunteer T-shirt.
  • A day of fun at the most ridiculous 5k run!


ABOUT VOLUNTEER SHIFTS

  • Packet Pickup: You’ll be the first face to face interaction participants will experience, so smiling faces are important! Volunteers will be checking in participants on iPads, distributing wristbands, answering questions and handing out shirts. Typical shift is 6 hours. Check the volunteer sign-up form for the exact location for your city.
  • Day of Event: Volunteers will be helping with a variety of tasks including, but not limited to: check-in, T-shirt distribution, merchandise tent, bag check, water stations, working at obstacles, and motivating runners through the course. Typical shift is between 5-6 hours.
  • Snacks and beverages will be provided. If you have any food allergies, please let the Volunteer Coordinator know in advance. If you have any special circumstances or feel uncomfortable performing a specific task, please let the Volunteer Coordinator know in advance.


WHAT IS THE AGE REQUIREMENT?

Volunteers must be 14 years old or older, and accompanied by an adult if under the age of 18.


DO VOLUNTEERS RECEIVE A SHIRT?

All volunteers will receive a ROC Race Volunteer shirt upon check in. The volunteer shirt must be worn for the entire duration of your shift.


DO VOLUNTEERS RECEIVE SNACKS, AND WATER ON EVENT DAY?

Yes. All volunteers will be provided with snacks and plenty of water.


WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

All volunteers are will receive a limited edition ROC Race t-shirt! As for the rest of your outfit, please dress comfortably with closed toed shoes. You may be out on the obstacles which get a little ridiculous, so wear something you wouldn’t mind getting dirty or slightly wet. Please also wear sunscreen. We will have some at the volunteer tent if you forget. Please leave all valuable objects at home as ROC Race is not responsible for watching your personal belongings during your shift.


AFTER SIGNING UP

  • You will automatically receive a confirmation, and you will receive a detailed email 2-3 weeks before the event with more information.
  • If you are no longer available for the shift you signed up for or need to switch it, please email us as soon as possible.
  • The more the merrier! Invite your friends to volunteer as well!


WHAT IS CONSIDERED A VOLUNTEER GROUP?

A volunteer group consists of a group of 10 or more volunteers coming from a single organisation. Examples include community organisations, non-profit groups, scouts, businesses, high school students and sports teams.


WHAT IS THE AGE REQUIREMENT?

Volunteers must be 14 years old or older, and accompanied by an adult if under the age of 18. We ask for 1 chaperone/group leader for every 10 volunteers, if under the age of 18.


HOW DO I SIGN UP MY GROUP?

Please email volunteers@rocrace.com.au to register your group. Please provide the following information within your email:

  • Location volunteering for
  • Group Leader’s first and last name
  • Group Leader’s contact information (phone number & email address)
  • Group you are affiliated with
  • How many volunteers you expect to bring
  • Volunteer shift(s) you are interested in working
You will then be contacted by a ROC Race Volunteer Coordinator within 48 hours and will be given further instructions.


ARE DONATIONS GIVEN TO VOLUNTEER GROUPS?

Yes. As a thank you for your group’s time and hard work, donations will be given to organizations that provide a minimum of 20 volunteers. The donation amount is based on the number of volunteers that attend the shift you registered for and that stay for the entire shift. Email us at volunteers@rocrace.com.au for more information.


A COUPLE OF MY FRIENDS AND ME WOULD LIKE TO VOLUNTEER TOGETHER. SHOULD WE REGISTER AS A GROUP?

If you have a group of 10 or more, please email volunteers@rocrace.com.au. If you have fewer than 10, please sign up as individuals and select the same shift days/times.


WHAT TIME WILL I NEED TO CHECK IN TO VOLUNTEER?

Volunteers will check in at the volunteer tent on site about 1-2 hours before the first race is scheduled to start. Some events, this could be as early as 6am. A ROC Race Volunteer Coordinator will contact you 2-4 weeks prior to the event to inform you of your shift time.


HOW LONG WILL I BE VOLUNTEERING?

Packet Pickup shifts are typically 4-6 hours long. Event day shifts are typically 6-8 hours long.

HOW DO I CONFIRM I AM REGISTERED TO VOLUNTEER?

Once you sign up online at www.rocrace.com.au/volunteers, you will receive a confirmation email from a ROC Race Volunteer Coordinator providing you more information regarding the volunteer shift you signed up for. If you have any questions, please email volunteers@rocrace.com.au.

VOLUNTEER DISCOUNTED REGISTRATION PROGRAM

To be eligible for a discounted race entry to ROC Race, a volunteer MUST:

  1. Sign up to be a ROC Race Volunteer.
    Visit www.rocrace.com.au/volunteers and click on the city you would like to sign up for. Choose a volunteer shift, and complete the volunteer registration process. Note: Volunteer registration is separate from actual ROC Race participant registration. Volunteer shifts are available on a first come, first serve basis.
  2. Be at least 14 years old.
    ALL volunteers must be 14 years old or older, at the time of the event, to earn a discounted registration, and participate in the actual run. NO EXCEPTIONS.
  3. Complete your volunteer shift(s).
    ALL volunteers are required to sign-in AND sign-out with the Volunteer Coordinator before and after their shift. Failure to do so will make you ineligible to participate in the volunteer discounted registration program.
  4. Sign the participant waiver.


RACE PARTICIPATION OPTIONS


Option 1
Volunteer for 1 Shift, get 50% off your ROC Race registration. Complete ONE of the following volunteer shifts:

  • After you complete your volunteer shift, you will register to run with the Volunteer Coordinator.
    Note: You will receive 50% off your race registration only. Additional purchases, or add-ons will be full price.
  • ALL volunteers are required to sign-in AND sign-out with the Volunteer Coordinator before and after their shift. Failing to do so will make you ineligible for a discounted race entry to ROC Race.
  • Volunteer discounted registration program participants will pick-up their race wristbands from the volunteer coordinator.
  • Volunteers will not be allowed to pick up their race wristband from the regular Participant Check-in line.
    Note: The volunteer discounted registration program participants will only receive a race wristband. Participants t-shirts are not included.
    Note: Your start time will be determined by the Volunteer Coordinator. Time assignment is based on availability. Not all wave times are available to volunteers.
Option 2
Volunteer for 2 Shifts, get a ROC Race registration for FREE. Complete TWO of the following volunteer shifts:

  • After you complete BOTH volunteer shifts, you will register to run with the Volunteer Coordinator.
  • ALL volunteers are required to sign-in AND sign-out with the Volunteer Coordinator before and after their shift. Failing to do so will make you ineligible for a discounted race entry to ROC Race.
  • The volunteer discounted registration program participants will visit the volunteer tent on race day to pick-up their race wristband.
  • Volunteers will not be allowed to pick up their race wristband from the regular Participant Check-in Line.
    Note: Volunteer discounted registration program participants will only receive a race wristband. Participants t-shirts are not included.
    Note: Your start time will be determined by the Volunteer Coordinator. Time assignment is based on availability. Not all wave times are available to volunteers.



IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE

  • ALL volunteers must be 14 years old, or older, at the time of the event to earn a discounted registration, and participate in ROC Race. NO EXCEPTIONS
  • Volunteer discounted registrations are non-transferable.
  • Volunteer discounted registration program terms and conditions are subject to change.
